Benue State University, Makurdi

The Executive Governor of Benue State and Visitor to the Benue State University, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia in a short ceremony on Friday, 19th July, 2024 held at the Old Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, inaugurated the new members of the Governing Council, Benue State University, Makurdi.

The Governing Council is made up of Sir Paul Chukwuma, as the Chairman with Professor Shagbaor Francis Wegh, Barr. Simon Orkuma, Dr. Diana Agbenu Ochoga, Mr. Michael Terwase Gongul, Dr. Michael Achadu and Professor Ayangeadoo Hur-Yagba as members.

In his address at the ceremony, the Governor congratulated members of the Council stating they had been carefully selected and called upon to serve the State on account of their track record of hard work and dedication. He informed them of their duties and stressed how much he looked forward to positive results from them. He also charged them to be dedicated and committed in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities expected of them.

Responding on behalf of the Governing Council members of the seven tertiary institutions that were inaugurated, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of Benue State University, Sir Paul Chukwuma expressed appreciation to the Governor for finding them worthy of the great assignment. He also promised to bridge the gap between the University and industries for technological knowledge and advancement.

Dignitaries present at the inauguration include: the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Barr. Sam Ode, mni; top government functionaries; Commissioners; Advisers; Chairmen and members of the Boards of the seven tertiary institutions in the State who were also inaugurated.

Shortly after the inauguration, the Chairman and members proceeded to the University where they held a closed-door meeting with the Management of the University.
