The Management, Benue State University Makurdi, led by the Vice Chancellor Professor Tor Joe Iorapuu, fsonta, ksm today received the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Arch. Sonny Echono who at his instance paid a facility visit to inspect Tetfund projects in the University.
Professor Iorapuu in his welcome address commended the Executive Secretary of TETfund for providing the required funds for infrastructural and academic development to enhance teaching, learning and research. Stressing that the visit will afford him the opportunity to assess completed and on-going projects in the University.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary, Arch. Echono disclosed he shared in the Vision and Mission of the University as an Alumnus and promised to do his best to improve the infrastructural development in the University.
He further stated that as the first State University in Northern Nigeria, the institution has the capacity to carryout research that would provide solution to challenges confronting the Nigerian nation. He reiterated on the possible and positive outcomes of research, maintaining that education should be given top priority for the development of the required human resources to enhance economic and social development.
Vice-Chancellor and Management conducted the Executive Secretary round the on-going projects which include: Faculty of Education, Library Complex, Academic Staff Office Building, Academic Office Block, College of Health Sciences and Faculty of Science.
The Executive Secretary also paid a Courtesy Call to the Visitor/Executive Governor of Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom at the Benue Peoples House where he was honoured and dressed in Benue traditional attires.
Others present during the Visit include: some Council members, Principal Officers, Deans, Directors, Head of Departments and Coordinators.
