Benue State University, Makurdi

The Vice-Chancellor, Benue State University (BSU), Professor Tor Joe Iorapuu, on Saturday, March 29, 2024, joined other Vice-Chancellors from across Nigeria to attend the 26th-31st Combined Convocation Ceremonies of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM).

The grand occasion, which took place at the James Ayatse Convocation square, South Core, attracted dignitaries from the academic community, government and various professional bodies. The event was marked by the conferment of degrees, postgraduate diplomas, master’s and doctoral degrees on deserving graduates of the institution, reflecting its continuous contribution to national development.

Professor Iorapuu in company of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Ishaya Tanko who represented the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu were warmly received by the host Vice-Chancellor, Professor Isaac Nathaniel Itodo.

The presence of Vice-Chancellors, government officials, Traditional rulers, clergy and education stakeholders underscored the importance of the convocation as a unifying platform for knowledge exchange and networking within the academic community.

The week was quite an eventful week for the Vice-Chancellor. You will recall that at the instance of the Government of Benue State, the Vice-Chancellor and the Management hosted a team of Chinese academies on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Vice-Chancellor received His Excellency and Visitor of the University in company of the Israeli ambassador. On Friday, Vice-Chancellor again received the Governor who came to commission the Solar Power Inverter 60KVA installed through collaboration by HE, Dr. G. T. Suswam and Chief Dr. Paul Edeh in fulfilment of their pledge during the last combined convocation in December, at Benue State University.
