Two instruments were used to collect data: a 10-item Emotional Intelligence Scale and the 17-item short version of the Organizational Support Scale. The data collected were analyzed using multiple linear regression and the Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The results of the analysis revealed that all three study hypotheses were retained, as demographic variables (gender, marital status, educational qualification, and religion) jointly and significantly predicted emotional intelligence and organizational support among middle-level civil servants. Pearson correlation further indicated a direct moderate relationship between emotional intelligence and organizational support (r = 0.32, p < 0.05).
The findings were presented in line with the research hypotheses, and discussions highlighted the importance of aligning emotional intelligence training with organizational policies to improve employee well-being, support, and workplace effectiveness. The study recommends that Human Resource Managers integrate demographic considerations into emotional intelligence initiatives to promote inclusiveness. It also urges the government to provide regular workshops on emotional intelligence and empathetic leadership. These recommendations were based on the study’s findings, which emphasize the significant role of emotional intelligence in enhancing organizational support and improving job performance among civil servants in Akwa Ibom State.
