The Journal of Economic and Social Research (JESR) upholds the highest standards of ethical conduct in scholarly publishing, guided by the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing and the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. Submissions to JESR must adhere to the following ethical norms and principles:
1. Promote Intellectual Freedom and Rigor: Encourage freedom of thought, independence, critical and creative thinking, scientific rigor, reliability, and credibility.
2. Respect for Diversity and Inclusion: Uphold a pluralistic and inclusive environment, respecting the diverse values, opinions, and preferences within our scientific community.
3. Reject Unethical Competition: Disapprove of unfair competitive practices among researchers and emphasize a culture of mutual respect and collaboration.
4. Ensure Verifiable Information: Guarantee that published findings are verifiable, clearly distinguishing proven results from hypotheses or speculations. Uncertainties should be explicitly communicated.
5. Acknowledge Social Responsibility: Recognize the societal impact of research publications, ensuring that research activities and results do not inadvertently harm others.
6. Prohibit Data Falsification and Privacy Breach: Reject any form of data falsification or manipulation that distorts reality, and safeguard the confidentiality of data where necessary.
7. Combat Plagiarism and Misattribution: Oppose plagiarism and the misappropriation of others’ ideas or work. Contextual integrity must be maintained when quoting, and all contributions should be properly cited.
8. Accurate Authorship and Acknowledgment: Credit all contributors, including students, appropriately. Ensure co-authorship reflects substantial contributions, and that authors are listed based on their intellectual input.
9. Participate in Constructive Peer Review: Engage actively in peer review, maintaining confidentiality, objectivity, and constructiveness. Reviewers should suggest relevant, uncited work and adhere to deadlines.
10. Prohibit Duplicate Submissions: Refrain from submitting the same work to more than one peer-reviewed publication simultaneously.
11. Respect for Research Participants: Ensure that interviewees, survey participants, and respondents are fully informed about the research objectives and their roles.
12. Transparency with Funding Sources: Clearly disclose all funding sources and institutional affiliations. Honor agreements regarding result ownership and provide full acknowledgment of supporting organizations.
13. Declare Conflicts of Interest: Transparently disclose any conflicts of interest, whether related to the research itself or its funding, that could potentially introduce bias.
14. Address Publication Malpractice and Complaints: JESR has established processes to handle publication malpractice, complaints, and appeals. For more details, please refer to our policy page.
